What is the easiest way to dye my hair light brown/dark blonde after I dyed it black a month ago?

I dyed my hair dark brown/black (not a deep black, but a darkest brown-light black.) I would like it to be a very light brown/dirty blonde. Do I have to strip my hair completely or can I lighten it some way so that I can dye it to the lighter color?

The color seems to have lightened considerably and it seems like just a rather dark brown. It does have a bit of brassy undertones to it.

First use a decolourant. Strip it of it's colour as much as poss otherwise you'll be lightening your hair for ages! Lighten it as much as poss with a decolourant then start bleaching it, but wait 48 hours between each one otherwise you'll destroy your hair. After you dye it your desired colour leave it alone for a few months, your hair will thank you for it. I have dark hair and am constantly changing it's colour. Watch out for split ends and be nice to it.

Hi, I am a hairstylist and the only way to make dark color lighter is to strip it of its color. I am not a color specialist, but if you go to one, they can leave the bleach on for a certain amount of time for a certain color. Hope this helped!

You would need to lighten it a little just so that the lighter color can take effect. Remember color doesn't lift color so when you lighten it, to minimize damage, only go a little lighter than the color you want to put on. You don't have to be really really blonde for it to work.
