So i have naturally really light blonde hair and i wanted to go brunette. so i dye it dark brown, and for a while i liked it.. but its too much work touching up the roots and what not. so now i really want my blonde hair back. but i dont want to grow it all the way out cuz it looks really weird. and im kinda afraid to dye it cuz i dont want all my hair to fall out! what do i do???

Just go to a salon and get your hair dyed a "single process colour" so it will be one shade of blonde all over. This is the cheapest option at the salon.

You could bring in a picture of yourself with your natural blonde hair and give it to the hairdresser and say "I want my old blonde hair colour back". Hairstylists are visual people so they'll be able to match it.

You can also do it at home...but I do NOT recommend this! My natural colour is black (as pictured) and I bleached it myself one time and I ended up with random blonde patches all over the place. Plus, it also fried my hair.

Bottom line: Going to the salon is the better option because their hair dye is not toxic or smelly and your hair doesn't get fried. believe me, I've tried both.

Well honestly there is no other way to get it back the same exact blonde color as before since the chemicals are set in your hair for the dark brown hair dye and it's very tricky and can take a while for it to fade out but i don't think it'll come to back to your naturally blonde hair color too quickly it might take like a year or so. I would say just dye your hair back to blonde but you might be right it might be harmful to your hair but if you go to a professional salon and get help and advice from there maybe they can work something out. Don't be afraid to ask them it's pretty much their job.

My friend had the same problem. She waited as long as she could which was not long. When she dyed her hair again she just ended up doing a lot of deep conditioning. Her hair turned out OK. So you could get lucky and have no problems but just be care full and don't use really harsh chemicals on your hair and keep on conditioning.
