Nope dont even think of coloring ur hair for a while. Go to a salon for deep conditioning treatments. Regain ur texture and then fix the color. Doing any more coloring will really damage the hair further even to the extent that, your hair might even start falling.

to lighten it up, it will need bleaching, this is called colour correction. cant b done with home kits as the peroxide in home kits isnt strong enough.

go to a professional to get this done, and make sure u do plenty of conditioning treatments

Don't keep doing anything to your hair @home. Go ahead and get some help at a salon..

You wont need it to go lighter when it all breaks off from all the checmical damage. You should go to the salon and have them do a deep conditioning treatment on it and let the color be for a while.

OK. it looked black. if you put color over it, it wont lighten. color doesnt lift color. then it turned red. ok what i would try first is get baking soda-mix it with water so its like a heavy shampoo. try that. they say you can also use dish soap on your hair to try and remove (or lighten) color but thats a little more harsh on your hair. another option is getting a clarifying shampoo and conditioner-use it for a week and see if the color changes to what you want-although if you dont want red, i doubt it will.

if you still dont get the results you want, then yes go to the salon....just make sure you tell them all you did prior. im sure they will recommend a deep conditioning treatment for you as well, along with a good trim if needed. for the time being, before you go to the salon if thats what you decide to do, try to wash your hair at night, then sleep with the conditioner in it.-and wash it out in the morning. you can also use a leave in conditioner.

there are other things besides bleach (still damaging) that the salon can use to lighten your hair-i use it at my salon....its just a little less damaging than bleach. this year i went from dark red to light blonde to light/medium brown and my hair is in good shape-and its long.

dont worry.....color can always be fixed.

You can try a trick my sylist told me when I died my hair black in attempting to make it dark brown.

Wash your hair with powered Tide, not the liquid, but the powder. For blonds and some others it strips the color out some.

But please go to a salon and get it color corrected. It's the only thing that fixed my hair.

Good luck!!

take a holiday don't let anyone see u looking like that. tell your work your ill and fly somewhere hot ,near the sea and maybe take up surfing or something. the sun and sea will lighten your hair too and u could probably do with the break at least u got a good excuse.

Step away from the hair color! Do not color your hair anymore! Chances are if you go to a hair salon they will tell you they can correct it but unless you go to a color specialist that knows what they are doing, you are going to end up with a bigger mess than what you have now. They will attempt to bleach your hair to "remove" the color, then color your hair again.

So, a nice easy fix that will not damage your hair:

Find the cheapest shampoo you can that is NOT for color treated hair. Shampoo your hair with this for a few days followed by a good conditioner. The shampoo will "strip" the color out and you should start seeing a lighter color.

Or you can head down to your towns best salon and be prepared to shell out some big bucks for color correction.

you should have left it the original color you dyed it. after some time it would have washed out!!!

You should have originally washed your hair with dish soap to help strip the hair of the darker color. This might still work even though you have dyed it several already. So I would suggest trying that and then if that doesnt work definetly go to the salon. Make sure that you condition REGULARLY!!! That is very important now that you have over dyed the hair. Dye absorbs into dry hair much more than moistrized hair.

Otherwise the color will definetly lighted up with within a few weeks. I dyed my hair black and it lighted up a lot over a course of a few weeks. So relax....it will turn out ok.

I would have gone to a salon in the first place and you should definitely go to one to fix your problem.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
