Dying black hair light brown?

i dyed my hair black more than 4 months ago and it's starting to fade.....my light brown roots are visible and overall it now looks chocolate/ really dark brown. would light brown dye work on it or do i still have to lighten it first?

You can dye it until it is brown. I also had this problem. since im chinese, black hair is normal. but dont over do it. i kept dying it everyday.

I think you will have to dye it lighter before hand. But be careful not to turn it ginger. It would be best if you went to a salon.
