What cut and highlights would look best with black/dark brown hair?

I can post a picture here if someone can tell me how.

I want to keep my hair long, but otherwise I'm open to all suggestions of how to colour, highlight and cut my hair. I'm sick of looking the same! (I'm in my mid-twenties, though, so nothing REALLY wild, please.)

Thanks.

OOh, I know this one. use a chocolate cherry base color, paul mitchell has one, go to a paul mitchell salon or someone that uses his stuff, the best color by the way, and then ask for subtle highlights or chunky if you want them, I like the chunky, and go with a caramel color, also in paul mitchell, give your self a little swooped bang and long layers all over. Good luck.

You don't highlight in the fall/winter you highlight in the spring/summer. You can get lowlights which are dark highlights like red, auburn brown etc. . . you can get golden brown highlights.

Picture doesn't work. I would say, maybe caramel highlights. That would look cute. Or Light brown. Just don't do blonde. It looks ugly on black hair.

I would stick with nice dark rich tones, like mahogany. I would not go with the trendy chunky type of highlights. I would go with a more subtle type of highlights. Enough to be noticable but not those huge chunks of color that looks soo fake. Since you want to keep your hair long, you can pull out a tiny layer of hair around your face and wear some cute textured bangs or just little side pieces, just a light layering around the face, make it look like you got an entirely new haircut, yet you just lose a little bit of hair.
